The blue-jay sat silhouetted in the slanted sunlight. Feathers puffed out, trying to trap as much heat as possible on this sub-zero morning. Small clouds escaped its beak in time to the expansion of its fluffy chest.
Food, the life-source of heat, lay scattered on the ground below. Yes, the jay would survive to see another sunrise.
